I have undertaken a clinical placement as an associate Therapist at Cambridge University, where I provided support to students and staff and have also worked as a volunteer at a rape crisis and sexual abuse centre, and a drug and alcohol treatment service. I have previously been employed as a CBT therapist for the Priory Hospital.
What is CBT?
CBT can help you to change how you think ("Cognitive") and what you do ("Behaviour)". These changes can help you to feel better. Unlike some of the other talking treatments, it focuses on the "here and now" problems and difficulties. Instead of focusing on the causes of your distress or symptoms in the past, it looks for ways to improve your state of mind now. CBT can be useful for dealing with issues such as: Anger, Anxiety, Depression, Drug or Alcohol Problems, Eating Disorders, Insomnia, Obsessive-compulsive Disorder, Phobias, Post-natal depression, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Sexual and Relationship Problems.
CBT sessions may consist of a number of activities, including: Coping skills, Assessments,Relaxation, Challenging certain thoughts, Thought stopping, Homework projects and Training in communication.
Get in Touch
Finding the right therapist is paramount to achieving a positive outcome. I offer an initial FREE consultation that allows the client to discuss briefly what brought them to counselling, what they feel they need from a therapist and what they would like to achieve from the sessions. It also allows both the client and myself to establish whether we can work together to achieve the desired outcomes.
I work from my home in Haworth (BD22) and clients regularly travel from areas such as Bradford (BD1), Bingley (BD16), Halifax (HX1/HX4), Hebden Bridge (HX7), Burnley (BB10/BB12), Colne (BB8), Ilkley (LS29), Otley (LS21), Silsden (BD20) and Skipton (BD23) to attend sessions
